Our Mission

We are committed to serving the Pretoria Jewish community with kindness and respect, assisting families in their most difficult times. Our responsibilities include burial arrangements, maintenance of cemeteries, and offering emotional and practical support to those in need. Beyond this, we extend our reach to welfare initiatives, providing assistance to individuals and families facing financial hardship.

Upkeep of the cemetery

Maintaining the Pretoria Jewish Cemetery is a continuous and costly responsibility. Over time, natural wear & weather damage take their toll on graves, pathways, and infrastructure

The cost landscaping, repairs, and general upkeep is substantial, and as the community evolves, fewer resources are available to sustain this sacred space.

Unlike other cemeteries, which may receive municipal funding, the Pretoria Jewish Cemetery relies entirely on private donations and community support. Without ongoing contributions, the preservation of our heritage and the dignity of our loved ones' final resting places are at risk. Your support ensures that we can maintain the cemetery with the care and respect it deserves, safeguarding it for generations to come.

Supporting Those in Need

The Pretoria Chevra Kadisha provides critical welfare assistance to more than 30 families in our community, ensuring they have access to food, basic necessities, and essential financial support. This vital work comes at a cost of over R200,000 per month, and we rely entirely on donations and grants to sustain these efforts. Without the generosity of our community, many individuals and families would be left without the help they desperately need. Your support allows us to continue providing dignity, relief, and hope to those facing hardship. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
